This September, visitors to Paris can look forward to an exciting range of cultural events; from open air operas outside the beautiful Hotel des Invalides and jazz concerts at La Villette... to glamorous fashion shows from the city's leading designers. Discover the city's most unique events and enjoy an unforgettable stay at Hotel de Vigny this autumn.

Opéra en Plein Air

Hotel des Invalides

6th-10th September

Imagine a huge stage set infront of one of the most iconic monuments in Paris, where dozens of musicians are taking their seats, ready to deliver an extraordinary opera performance. Between the 6th and 10th of September, Hotel des Invalides and its grandiose gardens will be welcoming artists for an unforgettable interpretation of Giacomo Puccini’s La Bohème.

Built by Louis XIV to host the French King’s veteran and wounded soldiers, Les Invalides’ impressive architecture faces the River Seine in the upmarket 7th arrondissement. During the four outstanding performances, audiences can look forward to (re)discovering the story of Rodolphe and Mimi, their close friends and their bohemian lifestyle in Paris circa 1830. A tale of love, friendship and art, the romantic adventure of La Bohème will be a must-see performance that will make you wish you were able to travel through time to experience 19th century Paris.

Jazz à la Villette

Until 11th September

Each year, jazz music fills the contemporary gardens of Parc de la Villette, one of Paris’ largest green spaces. From the 30th of August until the 11th of September the famous Jazz à la Villette festival will offer performances by the likes of Archie Shepp All Stars, Laura Mvula and Cucho Valdès. A dozen jazz artists will be performing on eight stages in the 19th arrondissement park to inspire music lovers, amateurs and newcomers alike.

If you’re visiting Paris with your family, the festival also boasts an exclusive programme for little ones. Jazz à la Villette for Kids is designed to draw children’s attention to this exciting genre using melodies specially adapted to younger ears. Children can look forward to watching an interpretation of Peter and the Wolf, or discovering more about American history via blues music performed by Alan Lomax, who will be using home-made instruments such as a violin made of cans. They will also have the chance to enjoy L’Effet Vapeur’s adaptation of The Old Man and the Sea, with original scores and animated films.

With 11 days of outstanding music performances, Jazz à la Villette will provide you and your family with wonderful memories of Paris.
